The Challenge: Australia is an international installment in the Challenge franchise. The season features 22 Australian reality stars and celebrities competing exclusively against each other for the first time ever. The winners of the season will advance to The Challenge: World Championship where they will compete against the winners of The Challenge: Argentina, The Challenge: USA, and The Challenge: UK, as well as notable Challenge Veterans, to determine the first-ever Challenge world champion. This is the first season to air on Network 10. The season was moved to 10 Shake following Episode 6 due to low viewership.
Description[]
Hosted by Brihony Dawson and filmed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, The Challenge Australia will see an algorithm randomly pair challengers to compete in grueling physical contests, test strategies, survive eliminations, cutthroat alliances and steamy hook-ups to win daily challenges and eliminate their opponents.
The final male and female challengers will be declared Challenge champions by the end of the season, winning $100,000 each in prize money and their entry into the first ever The Challenge: World Championship, where they will represent Australia in hopes to be the first ever Challenge World Champion.
With old rivalries, new alliances, messy exes, and fractured friendships to navigate, who has what it takes to go down in reality television history, as Australia's first Challenge Champion?
Format[]
Each challenge, contestants will compete with a partner of the opposite sex, which is then followed by an elimination round known as “The Arena”. Each contestant will have a different partner at each challenge, and the pairs are determined by The Algorithm. The winners of the challenge will be safe from elimination. The last-place finishers will automatically be sent into elimination. In the Arena, the winners will select another team to compete against the losers. The two teams will compete in elimination where the winners will stay in the game, while the losers will be eliminated.
In the Final Challenge, six contestants (three men and three women) will compete. The winners of the Final will split A$200,000.
Twists[]
- The Algorithm: After each elimination, an Algorithm will randomly pair contestants together before each challenge. No player can have the same partner again until it is mathematically impossible to pair them with someone they haven't worked with. Then, they will not be paired with the same player twice in a row.
