- Dan attended The Real World 10th Anniversary Special in 2001.
- Dan was flown to Panama with the initial cast of All Stars 3 to serve as an alternate in case anybody was disqualified. He was eventually sent home after being unused.

- Dan is the first openly LGBT contestant to compete on The Challenge.
- Dan, Brad Fiorenza, Dan Setzler, Eric Nies, Julie Stoffer, Mark Long, Rebecca Lord, and Theo von Kurnatowski share the record for the most daily challenge wins in a single season, with 12 each.
